Too Sad to Write
You may (or may not) have noticed that I have had very little to say about sports in the last month or so. This is because my beloved Cowboys and Irish are so bad, I can barely drag myself out of bed in the morning. The stink is so profound, it's put a layer of funk on all sports for me right now. I'm in recovery, though. Teams come and go. Season records wax and wane. This too shall pass (I hope). I'm even planning a spectacular Favre-Jets-NFL-pretty girls smackdown. It will undoubtedly be epic and awesome, as long as I finish before Saturday/Sunday, when my boys will undoubtedly depress me all over again.

i'd recommend baseball, but apparently that topic doesn't count around here. seriously, it's a very interesting game/sport/whatever...there's so much more going on than in football or basketball, more ways to statistically analyze...and it gives you something to turn to when you get jilted by football. i'd say it's maybe too late to pick up, but i came to it later in life, and i don't remember you being an irish fan your whole life long....
ReplyDeletebaseball? i...i can't even process that. it may be true that there are interesting things going on in the background, but sadly, there's nothing interesting going on on the field, which is all i really care about (i'm a girl. stats bore me, as i do not have infinite brain space to store/remember them). i'd rather be a rugby fan. at least there are some delightfully short shorts and muscley thighs to look at.
ReplyDeletei went to nd. therefore, i am required to be an irish fan. the pledge to nd is part of the graduation documents.
huh....well....from pretty much everything in your comment, i think that perhaps i am not the person to be giving you advice on sports-related topics....short shorts, "muscley" thighs, pledges to nd....these things could never interest me in the slights.....you should probably just stick with mourning over the cowboys and nd...or, after last weekend, cheering wildly :)
ReplyDeleteyou mean YOU don't like muscley thighs? huh. didn't know that was possible.
ReplyDeletethankfully, both the irish and the cowboys have been playing better since i wrote this, so it's been happier times in my house (we REALLY enjoyed the redskin-spanking last week, even if it was dealt by the eagles).
